A speaker at an apologetics conference at
has been rebuked for comments critical of prominent Southern Baptists who believe God ordains for wives to be subordinate to their husbands.
Cynthia Kunsman, a registered nurse who runs a Web site and blog focusing on spiritual abuse, was invited to lead a workshop critiquing “biblical patriarchy” at a March 6-8 conference sponsored by Evangelical Ministries to New Religions.
In her lecture, Kunsman defined patriarchy as an “intolerant ideology” that has arisen within circles of the Christian homeschool movement during the last decade and a half. The movement is not monolithic, she said, but “encompasses many different denominations within Christianity.”

I am grievously concerned about the twisting of basic sound doctrine. The words submit/submits/submitting are listed in the entire bible only 15 times.
Submitted maid Hagar to Sarah: once
Submit foreigners: twice
Submitted to Solomon, the sons and mighty men of David: once
Submit enemies: twice
Submit to authority in ministry to those over you: once
Submit wives to husbands: twice
Submit to authority in government: once
Submit to God: once
Submit to elders: once
Submit one to another as Saints: once
Submit to the righteousness of God: once
Submit with silver: once
Yet entire movements have taken one portion of scripture and devised entire church movements, books media programs and a church focus on it. Which by the way negates the need for the cross or Christ himself; after all the emphasis is on the patriarch’s works and not Christ’s redemption. I believe a Christian man can be respected as an authority without having to stroke his ego into Lordship. Even Christ broke the patriarchal molds by speaking to, ministering to and defending women of fallen, unclean reputations and lifted them up in position above the patriarchal leaders of His days on earth.
It is only right to obey scripture and submit to your husband. It is biblical not to permit a woman to have authority to rule over men in the church. With all of that said: It does not take a biblical scholar, but when one reads the entire chapter of Ephesians 5 can see there is a theme there. It starts off with gross sexual indulgences. Then the area goes further on to mindset: wife as unto Christ, husband as unto Christ and church. Lastly summed up in the final verse is: husbands love, wives respect. It doesn’t sum up husbands must ritualistically cleans wife anymore than Christ should have to ritualistically get back on the cross. It is a mindset of loving your wife and showering her in holy compliments, building her up through the Word of God and not to justify worldly ways. This area is not speaking of cramming a ritual down her throat to make her holy enough for heaven.
A family enjoying the Lord through a family devotional time is wonderful and encouraged, but it shouldn’t end there. We should be lovingly respecting one another, exalting each other throughout the day into holiness. What are people thinking? Do you not know your shepherds voice yet? You continue to go back to circumcision and sacrifices (depending on works in the flesh)!! You know there is a most excellent way (1Corinthians 12:31-13)…..
